Poppy walk. South Heighton. Sussex.

Just pictures....very few words.
We walked on the South Downs above South Heighton, just inland from Newhaven.
A poppy walk.

Mist rolling in from the sea up the Ouse Valley.

Piddinghoe, across the river.

This was taken for old time's sake.
Do you see the aerials in the background? They stand on Beddingham Hill and on the slopes below the aerials was "camp"...our childhood holiday destination in a field.

This is Blackcap Farm....always remote and remains so today.
There is no made up road to it.
As a young teenager I could imagine it as the home of a Thomas Hardy heroine.

Roses round the window in the village.
South Heighton is a modern village...developed when the railways arrived.
It continues to grow.

The poppies have never been left to flourish as they have in other years.
We thank the farmer - whatever his reasoning, for providing us with such a visual feast.
