It's raining again - too much.
How lovely all the things look in the shop - the things I took in today, which you may have seen photographs of yesterday.
There was plenty of time to make my section look good.
Customers were few.
What did we expect?
The weather has been awful. Sussex has both a hosepipe ban because of the drought and floods and potential flooding too.
The local radio has been covering floods all day. The first we heard was on the car radio as we drove to Dorking......they were reporting from Littlehampton. Gradually other towns and villages were drawn into the news stories.
Many roads have been closed - including some close to home. The dear little River Mole is bursting its banks around Ifield and Charlwood.
Some Sussex spots have had more than the average monthly June total fall in the space of 12 hours.
It is certainly not the weather the cuckoo likes - nor shoppers.
I am surprised we saw anybody at all.
We even had sales - both in the morning and the afternoon.
The afternoon sales doubled the number for the day - yes, you guessed....just 2 paltry sales on the sales sheet; very paltry sales - the total for the day was £8.
But, yes, it did give us time to sort things out.
I enjoy that.
My greatest enjoyment today came in telling arty, aging hippy Monika that her section looked awful! Well, of course I didn't actually say that!
But I gave suggestions, which she took on board, and she was really pleased I had spoken.
She has changed her emphasis lately and seemed not to be able to display furniture so well. I suggested putting a small bedroom chair on a cupboard to help break up the lines....and it developed from there.
It is not raining right now, but heavy rain is on its way over night.
This is a village not far from Littlehampton - Felpham.
You can see that it was still raining hard when the picture was taken.
Tranquil river?
No - country road.
