Looking for normality in Monkland and Japan.

It came as quite a surprise that it is Monday already and that we were expected to be in the shop.
Was it really only a week ago that we were there?
So much has happened, and so many miles travelled that it feels like we were away for ages.
Amongst all the Monk upheaval there has been something that makes all other upheaval pale into insignificance.
I will never forget the sight of that wave of water rushing across the land that we viewed on the TV in our Newcastle hotel room on Friday morning.
Every image and news item is simply awe inspiring - I am filled with awe and horror as I contemplate what people experienced in Japan. Many thousands have just gone...what did it feel like?
And now life for the survivors is so fragile.
My mind, of course, saw the pictures and started on the most awful "what might have been" scenarios.
It was Christmas time 2004 and our own dear family in Phuket had been on the beach just the day before.
Jamie talks of this on his latest weather blog - with links to tsunami memories.

But somehow the Japanese must pick up the pieces and re-create normality.
And for us the day has been normal.
We have been in Dorking.
It was a very normal day. I sold 4 items of mine today which boosted an already very fair total for the week.
There was sunshine (outdoors) and laughter within.
I photographed things for a shop blog, which will be done later this week.
This afternoon a couple who are friends of Monika's came in - carrying their 3 day old baby, Rose.

Now scroll down and take a look at the Llanbedrog art gallery in Wales, which we visited last Wednesday.
