Felix and Otto

Why are there still purchases on the dining room table?
Surely that was something on the Things to Do list for today!
Where has the day gone?
I know that this morning we spent a while organising things to do most weekends for the spring and summer.
I might have been close to thinking that my timekeeping days should be in the past, but as this is very true for so many people, we have the feeling that we should give time to our own local athletics club. I like being useful and feeling part of an organisation that unites people of all ages and backgrounds in pursuit of something good. And if we don't do it for our club then nobody would do it.
What we must also do is encourage more people to come forward and find the satisfaction that we have had.

In the middle of the day we went to see Ruth and the boys (my nephews).
Felix was 4 three days ago.
We had gifts.
One was old and second hand - but was once much treasured in our house and I am sure will be treasured again.
But first Bill helped Felix with another present he had just received - he had to do a sort of jigsaw puzzle which made a roadway.

It was Otto who spent most time with the things we had taken over.
Felix is shyer and preferred to do things on his own.

Do you recognise your garage Jamie?
Your father made a garage for both you and Ashley out of old car part packing cases - almost 40 years ago!
That was the time the Hillman Avenger car was launched - and Bill got a badge to be mounted on the garage.
This week he renovated this one just a bit.
Ashley's garage has travelled up to Bangor and will be off to Newcastle next week.
Ecky probably doesn't need it any more - but Ashley was quick to point out that potential grandchildren of his would treasure it!

Rolling a car down the ramp.

It is big enough and sturdy enough to be sat on or stood on. And there is space inside for much to be brrrmmd in and out.

Felix and Otto have been to the Natural History Museum this week so we thought we would continue the theme with big model dinosaurs.
Felix picked the stegosaurus and Otto had the brachiosaurus - which is eating Uncle Bill.

Meanwhile Felix was drawing in the kitchen.
I am impressed with this robot head - very good for a boy just 4 years old.

Felix, the artist.

He brought through the finished drawing to be admired, but tried not to be seen whilst we admired it.

Cuddle for Otto - now two and a half. He is very grown up, but not mature enough to understand why Felix should be getting presents and fuss this week.
After our visit, Bill and I treated ourselves to lunch out. This was much cheaper than at the National Trust restaurant yesterday.
We had gammon, 2 eggs and chips and our teas and coffee (I always have 2 mugs of tea) for £3.10 each at Wetherspoon's.
Check out the afternoon weekday bargains.
It was very relaxing to sit and chat and watch others.
We came home to sort out a hotel for next week - one night in Newcastle.
We have booked at The Grainger - an en suite room and our 2 breakfasts for £40. I won't have much of the breakfast though, because it is mostly cereal and toast.
It is still chilly outside, but we are enjoying some brightness and crispness in the air.
Tomorrow we will go to Ford, Littlehampton and back to cousin Pat's where I left my coat last Saturday.
There will be even more spread on the dining room table after that trip - hopefully.
