Snowy December and Ashley and Liz's triumph.

We were warned at dawn of the weather to come - brilliant red sky.
Red sky in the morning - shepherd's warning!
We have snow again.
At first there were just lovely flakes floating down and then suddenly we we were watching a blizzard.
We could hardly see across to the medical centre, the snow was so thickly falling.
It has settled - but there is nothing like the snow we had a couple of weeks ago......yet!
The snow is not the problem in these parts really - it is ice.
In North Wales there is both a large quantity of snow and also ice. North Wales is mountainous and Bangor is built on the side of a hill. Vehicles are not moving.

When the blizzard died down, Bill and I went to the post office. It was beautiful. By this time there was blue sky and a bright, very low, setting sun which made the scene positively glow.
The pavements along Wakehurst Drive were not too tricky for walking. The road itself was like a skating rink and we saw some cars sliding.

This evening we have enjoyed cold meat from the joint we bought cheaply yesterday.
I have said that if food is at its sell by date then this is what we eat.
I am proud that we can economise in this way for much of the time -giving us freedom to eat at a cafe sometimes.
I guess it is always good when one's own philosophy is passed on to the next generation and as you will see shortly, Ashley has refined my ideas and now out shines me in the economy stakes.

Ashley, Liz and Ecky had a fun family day out in the snow. I hope it was fun for Liz - still in pain from the investigative operation she had 2 days ago.

Hmmmm, Isaac - its getting deeper.
Notice how Ashley's cats never miss an opportunity for sitting on him; whether he is sitting down or standing up.

My beautiful grand daughter.

A very rarely seen scene.
Bangor is by the sea and it rarely snows very hard.
This is the road where they live at the moment.
I wonder for how much longer and how often Bill and I will ever see it again.
Maybe once - maybe not.
On the way home they called in at Marks and Spencers for a good quality treat meal for dinner.
They came out with 42 treat meals for dinner!
M&S had given up on trade for the day and no doubt assume that they will not be able to open tomorrow either.
Traffic on the hill had come to a complete halt.
So, they reduced all their food items to 50p each!
Yes - there are 6 chickens there at 50p each and so much more.
The staff were obviously not bothered about much except their anxiety at knowing they still had to travel home. Consequently Ashley and Liz were charged just £18 for their 42 items.
I can just imagine the giggles and chuckles at their extreme good fortune as they carried their catch back home.
It is probably just as well that they have already started to prepare for moving - the freezer was fairly empty.
They just might not need to buy any more dinners whilst they live in Bangor!
At the moment the move to Newcastle is gathering momentum. Ashley is going there on Monday and Tuesday (weather permitting) to start looking at some of the houses they have ear marked on the internet.
If the current residents of one they want are ready to move then it could all happen very quickly.
Well, bed time soon. No early morning for us tomorrow though.
Some people are really anti the snow and I must admit that I am disappointed that we obviously will not be going to Ford now until next year.
But it feels right to have a winter.
