Friday photos. Leigh Playground and Leith Hill

We took a picnic to the playground at Leigh (Surrey).

There were lots of things to do in the playground, but the hammock swing was the favourite for Ecky.......
"I wish I could have one"

The men sit and wait for the picnic bag to be opened.
What a lovely little house with chairs for us to relax in.

At last - picnic time!

Sandwiches for Ashley and a flask of savoury rice for me.

Back to the hammock swing.

Lost in wonder and imagination and gently swinging.

Then we drove to Leith Hill.
We walk through the thick woodland and suddenly we are at the top, with superb views.

Ashley and Ecky stride out to the edge.

Playing games at the sculpture.

On a clear day they say you can see through the Shoreham Gap to the sea.
We could see the South Downs and just make out Chanctonbury Ring.

There is a tower at the summit of the hill.
I like this lovely old post card.

We paid our money - free to Bill and me with National Trust cards - and climbed the gloomy stone spiral staircase.

Included in a child's admission price was a panorama booklet and pencil and a token for the telescope.
I think she got about one minute for that token.

View towards Gatwick Airport from the top of the tower.
Ecky was amused to hear Bill refer to it as Gatport Airwick!
That's his way - make up a new language!

There were a couple of small rooms near the top of the tower with information.
Ecky enjoyed the model of Leith Hill and the buttons which could turn on lights.

Balancing by the tower.

Bill took several pictures of interesting shapes of wood.
This one looks like a pig to me, with his trotters, ear, nose and mouth.

Still balancing on the path back down.
