Family in Wiltshire.
Another full day.
This afternoon we went to Devil's Dyke - we took some chairs with us and sat enjoying the view and reading and drawing.
Young E and I attempted to draw the view....until we didn't have a view anymore.
We had noted that quite obviously Brighton was covered with a thick sea mist.
The mist drifted inland a bit and swept over The Downs - we watched it falling down the scarp side. The village of Poynings disappeared; and all the downland to the west of us.
Message to my brother at this point - the visit to our niece was cancelled because of a family bug.
And Ruth didn't take Felix to Ladies Wrestling because he had another asthma attack. J and O went though.
This evening 2 of B's sisters have been here for talking, eating and drinking.
Time moves on...I should be in bed because we have a trip to London tomorrow.
Our plans for have changed for the London jaunt...gone are expensive bus rides and river trips.
Instead we are walking from St Pancras to Camden Lock by The Regents Canal and visiting places on the way.
Who knows we might still have a boat trip - on a barge.
But, back to yesterday.....a happy day with family in Wiltshire.
Here are the best of my photos.
Walking into the village.
Jubilee Cottage on the hill.
Jubilees tie in with our visit to the museum too.
But first we listened to the cylinder phonograph - entertaining us with a slightly risque Edwardian song.
My brother is the curator of the museum and we get to do things that not every visitor would do.
Things like moving exhibits and posing with the jubilee dummies.
My sister in law made the dummies and they are used to demonstrate a range of themes.
This year, naturally, there is a Jubilee theme.
My brother is looking like a professional trumpeter - but the sounds that came from this poor instrument were painful and funny.
A sound so awful that merriment and giggles resulted.
Monkfish didn't achieve anything better than his uncle.
Just for a moment, let's look at a serious jubilee exhibit.
I wonder if the king and queen ever commented on those profiles.......not a flattering or accurate likeness.
Then there was some trying on of bandsmens' caps. Fun!
Hey! It got rather silly.
Well, we asked him to smile.
It got even sillier!
Keep smiling!
Through the museum window.
A tranquil scene to contrast with our silliness.
A corner in the museum.
My turn to be silly - I stole the mannequin's hat!
Charming cottage on The High Street.
Greeting the neighbours.
Sam.
Walking back up the hill.
