All change.
A strange day at the shop, marking the end of another chapter.
Rather as we expected, we heard last week that French Julie would not be returning, after her illness.
Rather less expected, though we have known for longer, is that Monika will be pulling out too.
There will be changes - most of all to our Mondays - but also within the shop; people are dancing and side stepping carefully not to be seen to be leaping into the vacated spaces at the expense of anyone else.
I would like Bill and I to share a bigger section - though I am not completely sure that it is what Bill wants. I know he doesn't want the upheaval.
On the other hand I don't want to be paying any more rent - or very little more. It looks like by joining in the musical chairs of changing things around, quite a bit more rent would be involved.
But this is all in the future - but not very far into the future - by the middle or end of August it must be sorted.
Jo and I will talk things through tomorrow.
Today was the very last time that the 4 of us will be together - apart from socialising, which of course we have all promised to do.
Bill went to collect French Julie.
Monika went out and came back with salads and cake for a lunch together in the shop.
It was very pleasant.
I know that Bill and I will see Monika frequently on Mondays - for an hour or so.
She lives close by.
She has agreed to do Mondays for us when we go on holiday next year.
I wish them both well - Julie to retire and be lazy (her words) and Monika to a new venture with some other friends.
