Bill's birthday excursion. Preliminary part.

Happy birthday to Bill!
Tomorrow.
We had a day out today to celebrate.
We have been to Sheffield Park - the station and the National Trust garden.
Sheffield Park is the end of the line for the Bluebell Railway.
Steam locomotives chuff from there out into the Sussex countryside, carrying lots of excited visitors.
We didn't take a ride.
You see far more trains and railway life just by being on the station. Sheffield Park has engine sheds to explore and a very good museum (that wasn't there last time we went). There is also a pub. We sat on the platform with a beer and a sandwich, listening to film makers discussing media problems. They are making films about the Glory Days of Steam which will be shown on BBC 4 in the autumn.
Admission to all these facilities and photo opportunities is just £2 for old folk.
We were there for about 3 hours.
Bill buys our tickets.

The fireman on this loco was David Tomsett - a childhood neighbour of Bill's.
He still lives in Crawley.
It was suggested that Bill go through and share in the coupling of the loco to the coaches.

Late in the afternoon we went to Sheffield Park gardens for a stroll.

We both have many photos to sort. But not tonight.
I am exhausted.
We had a disturbed night - my fault......gipping flut!
So my tummy aches and for some reason so do my shoulders, neck and back.
I am keen to get to bed.
