Ightham Mote. Kent.

Yep!
You've got it...I'm tired.
Ightham Mote was perhaps the best National Trust property we have visited.
Fabulous medieval house, full of character - including the character of the most recent owner who bequeathed it to the nation in 1985.
Gardens were lovely too.
Liked an activity arranged for children - they could have a stick with an elastic band. The ban secured items of interest that a child could pick up from the floor - a feather, seed pods, petals etc. It looks kind of Druid.
Bill and I will definitely go again....and again.
We have masses of photos to sort - but maybe not until after Ashley and Ecky have gone.
For now here are 4 I took from web sites.

Do you see the only listed dog kennel down there in the courtyard?

Later we went into Tunbridge Wells for an early evening meal at The Opera House (Wetherspoons)
View from our table.
The three of us - Bill and me and Ecky enjoyed a very relaxed and peaceful meal with much good chat.
Ashley wasn't with us - he had gone to London for pursuits of his own.
