Stay at home day
It was a stay at home day.
I have cleared the dining room table of the weekend's purchases.
I have described 9 books, all with a Sussex interest and listed them on EBay.
I have talked to people on the phone.
Bill has talked with many people. He has been out the front cutting the grass and people stop to chat - not just the people he knows.
He has walked over as far as the medical centre. Frieda had grumbled that she can't get through to them on the phone - that might be her muddling things up. But I find it rather poor that you can't make appointments by just walking in and speaking to somebody.
Our medical practice wouldn't have that rule.
So, Frieda has to try and phone, hang on for a long time maybe and pay money - when she could just walk the short distance over there and speak to the same person she would be speaking to on the phone.
We actually make most of our appointments on line.
So tomorrow is voting day.
Ashley sent me a link today to a song performed by a Canadian folk singer, which is titled Too Stupid for Democracy!
Is everybody too stupid?
I am sure there are many good reasons why perhaps people ought to vote not to change the voting procedure - but to suggest that the great British public en masse are too stupid to understand putting candidates in order of preference is very insulting.
I shall vote to change things - but I have long been a believer in change and think what we are being offered is a step towards greater fairness.
We also have local elections.
If we had AV now I could vote for my first choice candidate.
But we don't have AV and therefore I shall have to vote for my 2nd choice candidate. This being one of the main parties, who I have a vain hope could take back control of our local council.
If I vote for the local vicar, standing for The Green Party it would be a completely wasted vote and would not make a scrap of difference to the final outcome; except that I would see it as a vote lost by the party who mght change things.
Most of you can guess which parties I might be talking about!
Time for a cuppa and some fruit. I cut up another 50p melon and another 4 kiwi fruit from the vast number that I got for my pound on Sunday.
