Out to lunch.
Just done that well known evening trick....falling asleep on the sofa and waking up wondering why I am not in bed.
And it hasn't been a busy day.
It has been a lovely day though.
We took cousin Ann out for lunch and have talked and talked.
Ann has had a bad time - just over 4 weeks ago I think she thought she was about to die. She couldn't breathe, couldn't find her voice and felt very ill.
An ambulance took her off to hospital and she has had heart surgery and a pace maker fitted.
She was told not to do anything and not to use her arm. So she has done a lot of sitting. She is 82 and we were not sure how fragile she is.
We asked if she felt up to a lunch out, because she is now beginning to feel human again.
And off we all went to Oxted.
We had roast dinners in the Oxted Wetherspoons. I am not a vegetarian now, but opted for their veggie roast and was very pleased with my choice.
I cook roast beef at home, but have never cooked a sweet potato and cashew nut roast and it was very tasty.
We also popped in to Morrisons for bread.....and yoghurts and a few bits. We thought we would take advantage of their presumably loss leader. You could buy a pack of 6 Muller Corners yoghurts for £3.95 or something silly - or you could buy 2 packs for £2.
That is very cheap indeed.
We went back to Ann's for cups of tea and much chat. We began to set up a social get together between Ann and her sister and another cousin who they have not seen for many years, that is Pat who lives near Worthing.
I think Ann was tired when we left but felt her adventure had done her a lot of good.
Whilst we have been out visitng in down market Wetherspoons, my brother has been to tea at Highgrove with Charles and Camilla. I think it must be an afternoon for community minded people. I look forward to hearing about the event. How proud my mother would have been.
Mother and the Queen were pregnant at the same time and both were expecting their babies in November 1948. Charles was born about 10 days before Roger.
