Tuesday activities.

Well, no complaints about lack of sales today!
It has been busy and Bill and I both sold. Bill sold very well indeed. For the 3rd time a woman, who lives and deals in France came in to see what more Bill had for her - farm type things mostly.
She spent £135.
We look forward to her next visit to Dorking.
There were other sales for Bill too - and a couple of reasonable sales for me.
July 2010 will go down in our history as the best month ever.
Just to add to the good news this month, Bill has bids on an Airfix aircraft kit.

Bill knew that this particular kit would sell - but the bidding has gone silly.
It is now at £72.
The amount paid will be nothing to do with us and yet we both tend to feel a bit awkward about it when we think somebody is paying too much. But it is their choice of course.
There are still 4 days to go until this auction closes.

It was not just us that sold well today.
We sold a satin wood dressing table and chest of drawers for Terry and Emma.
They were delighted.
The buyer lives in a village very close to our route home and I offered that we could deliver her furniture. Emma came in to help us.

Now both Bill and Emma have that delightful situation of having sold so well that they wonder how to fill the spaces!

It has been a day with a real buzz to it, with time for chat and laughter too. I took some photos for a shop blog posting, which I will do tomorrow.

But there was something today that made me feel angry - not connected with the shop or anybody in it, I hasten to add.

I was listening to the radio before the alarm went off and heard about the fact that Raoul Moat seems to have become a folk hero.
Thousands have joined a facebook group to pay tribute to him.
The man was a warped violent murderer for goodness sake.
There may be issues in his past that warped him. He seems to have left family members who want to stay loyal to a family connection.
But surely it is very worrying that complete strangers feel the need to go and lay flowers (with tribute messages) at the spot where he ended it all.
I don't think the people are trying to tap into evilness. I think this is some mawkish extension of the desire to be part of the world of a celebrity.
That worries me - that there are people who can only feel like a somebody if they feel they are part of some C List celebrity's world.
And I wouldn't actually put Raoul Moat on any list of celebrities. Some evil people's names will never be forgotten, even some from the days before mass media hyped them all up. Names to remember yes - but people to feel a closeness to, never!

Well, time to snuggle down and prepare for another day. A pottering day is on the cards. We are timekeeping in the evening.
