Sunshine Saturday

What a beautiful day!
Non stop sunshine!
We left for Ford at 7 o'clock and enjoyed the early morning drive.
The queue of cars waiting to come into the Ford site to sell was enormous. It was packed out.
It took us ages to feel sure we had seen most things.
We packed up some interesting things which will go out for sale later on.

And then, of course, we went to Littlehampton.
The atmosphere was so different than we had found last week, when almost nobody was there.
Today there were lots of happy people enjoying the seaside and sunshine - including us.
The people who visit Littlehampton find a kind of old fashioned innocence there. The day at the seaside is much as it was in our childhood. Bill can remember days out on the train down to Littlehampton.
Shopping opportunities are very few - just buckets and spades and fish and chips really.
Blankets are spread out on the beach, perhaps a windbreak is erected, then people play or sunbathe. At low tide there is masses of room for all.
There are sand castles to build, shells to collect, ball games to play and so on.
But today we didn't spend long on the beach.

After our breakfast with our friends at The Balaton we walked further up river.
There is a pleasant modern development alongside the river Arun.
Our destination was the Look and Sea Centre, but we got waylaid by a pair of swans.

Only one of them made it into the blog posting - one and an egg.
The pair had built a nest just above high water mark where boats are pulled up.
We talked to a man repairing his boat, who said that there had been 2 eggs. One got pinched - how rotten people can be! But the other is by no means safe, for the man said he was expecting extra high tides this weekend.

Apartments alongside the river.
I want that one at the top, with the tall window!
The Look and Sea Centre has a small exhibition and a souvenir shop.
There is a look out point up 4 storeys and then further up a spiral staircase.
One of the rooms had lots of information - and some fun.
I couldn't resist poking my head through one of the on the pier type amusements.

The view along the river and out to sea was just lovely.
Close by The Balaton are a couple of fish and chip shops - both popular, but Fred's is the mecca for fish and chip people.
There was quite a queue at his door at lunchtime.
Many people just take their meal over the road and sit on the wall by the river.

You can dine alone.......

.......or with the crowd.
The Look and Sea Centre is in the distance on the left hand side.
We walked back along the beach to where we had parked the car.
The tide was still going out.

We were impressed by these sand castles.

This is similar to a picture I took last week - looking towards the kiosks with Bill in the picture.
Last week - only Bill was in the picture.
So, that was just a taster of today in Littlehampton.
These were in fact all my pictures.....well, except the one of me fooling about in the Look and Sea Centre.
That was taken by another visitor - Bill was actually in it too - but his image didn't come out very well.
Tomorrow I will see if Bill's pictures tell another story - at least they will tell the same story differently.
