Friday
This will be quite short - for it has been a quiet sort of a day.
The sun shone and Bill was busy outside - sorting out the car and then cutting the lawns for the first time this year.
I finished describing all the books in the March box for EBay.
Bill has now scanned and photographed things put aside for the April box!
Bill's sister Jane and husband, Geoff came round for a cuppa this afternoon.
If Bill is feeling nervous about the gastroscopy on Monday he should ponder awhile on all the tests and treatment Jane is subjected to.
The hospital actually phoned Bill today - no, not a cancellation of Monday's procedure.
They felt they should apologise in advance that building work is going on close by and it might be noisy.
And I think Bill does feel tension about Monday.
This evening we have been to the post card club.
The speaker was more interesting than I envisaged. I can always take to a speaker who has real enthusiasm for his subject.
Tonight we heard about one particular company who photographed places and published cards.
They were a French company (known as LL) who produced many series of cards in the south east of England. Their pictures were full of life.
Strange really that postcards of 100 years ago are much more admired if there are people in them, doing things. As thinking photographers, sometimes we stand for a long time - waiting for the people to get out of the way!
But I have had sessions of more candid pictures, showing people in Littlehampton, for example, at rest or play.
I now have some old postcards of Littlehampton.... maybe tomorrow I will try to take similar views as they are today.
Yes, I think we will be off to Ford in the morning.
