A good day for a bike ride.

I mentioned the first Grand Prix of the year yesterday - but there are other fixtures that mark the passing of the weeks and one year gliding into the next.
Today was The Pioneer Run - the old motor bikes having an outing from London to Brighton.

We met them on the road this morning as we drove back from Dorking and Horley.
The bikers had a good morning for it - no rain, some bright sunshine, and no doubt they were well dressed to deal with the chilly wind.

My photos are taken from some on the web site of last year's run.
Perhaps next year we should head down to Brighton and be there on Madeira Drive to meet them and enjoy the atmosphere. There are lots of interesting exhibits.

Here a lovely old machine chugs past The Royal Pavilion.

Another enthusiast on his way into Brighton.

Dorking boot sale was disappointing this week.
It is rare that I find more things to sell in Horley.
It was good to see Jo at Dorking, who had been in the shop yesterday and could report that we had sold well.
Hooray - two of the things she mentioned were on last week's shop blog!
There was also an inquiry about the juke box that somebody had seen on an earlier blog posting.

We came home and cooked some breakfast - a cornish pasty, mushrooms, eggs and bread and butter. The bread was potato and herb from Ford yesterday.

Then I pretty well crashed out!
I felt so tired!
All hopes of describing books faded away.
Bill watched most of the Grand Prix - but I notice he drifted away half way through to do something more interesting.

I feel a bit stronger now - just maybe I will stay awake all the way through Lark Rise this week.
