White pre Christmas.

The snow began falling yesterday evening.
Snow fall is always exciting!
Though there were people stuck in traffic for quite long during the evening and night.
Snow must have continued to fall all through the wee small hours.
By morning it was quite thick.
We enjoyed a leisurely lie in - listening to the last ever Wake up to Wogan.
I shall miss his educated wit and relaxed style. He has a way with words that makes him ideal for radio.
And listeners have responded over the years with equally clever repartee.
Once Roger and I had a session with words that sound like people's names - it began with the Irish colleen Ann O'Tating.
It seems almost everybody who contributes to Terry Wogan had adopted a nom de plume which is a play on words.
Perhaps my favourite was Willie - Willie Eckerslike.
Bill was eager to get out and play in the snow.
Sorry - I mean to go out to do some snow clearance for the sake of safety.
He cleared and salted paths for both us and Frieda.
Later we walked to the local shop for bread for Bill and also Frieda.
We also bought the Christmas Radio Times. We don't normally bother with a listings magazine - not sure when the Radio Times started to be known as a listings magazine, but it seems that it is.
But the Christmas double issue is almost a tradition!
Later Frieda came round for her bread.
Oh dear - more Frieda - isms spouted from her mouth.
She had been for a lunch with members of the club at the local church, to another church in the town.
It must have been a Baptist church because it was something to do with John the Baptist, she told us. It wasn't - it was Cof E.
The priest in charge talked to the old dears about a facet of the Christmas story - I am not sure how Frieda remembered the words "Immaculate Conception".
She explained to us that this meant that Jesus was nothing to do with Mary's husband.
They weren't married Frieda!
At least they were not when Mary first carried the child.
"Ooh I say! You learn something new everyday!"
I commented that this was why Mary is referred to as a virgin.
And then later I wondered if Frieda understood what the word meant.
This afternoon I finished writing up all the items purchased in the last couple of weeks and stowed them in the garage.
I must tidy up my stock book now. All the dividers in the file are getting very tatty.
And now for some snow pictures.

Yesterday evening - heavy snow, but not a great deal of depth to it at that stage.
How lovely to have Christmas baubles on Solly's tree, twinkling in the snowlight - and street light.

This morning the snow was lying much more thickly. We reckon we have 4 or 5 inches.
Look at it piled up on the bauble.
The blue tit was happy to peck at peanuts, hanging from the tree.

I commented a while back that we had not seen the blackbirds.
They have normally pecked the weeping fruit tree bare by this time of year.
But they are back again now to gobble down the berries - shaking some snow off first.

Golden bauble reflecting the house and Bill with his camera.

Off to the shop for some bread. I have lovely fleecy lined wellington boots which were very cheap in Lidl a few years back.

I couldn't resist playing with the snow - throwing it up in the air.
Until my fingers felt too cold.

Snow is for playing with - the children next door made this little snowman in their front garden.
There has been lots of playing today.
Most schools in the town seem to have been closed for what would have been the last day of term.
It is just as well that the North Wales coast didn't have snow. Ecky's last day at school this year included a trip to the pantomime at Llandudno - starring Craig Revel Horwood, who Ecky would have seen on Strictly Come Dancing.
We have talked of being at Ford in the morning. The weather forecast is for it to be cold and sunny.
Roads might well be very icy first thing. We were not sure what to do.
Then we remembered that we are going to a social gathering at lunch time, with the old Rocking Horse shop people.
We will stay home in the warm tomorrow morning!
