Buzzing Christmas Eve - now hibernation.

I am so tired!
Just about ready for three days of hibernation!

This morning we went to Dorking - by way of Crawley town centre.

Bill had been into the town on Tuesday to change a pair of corduroy trousers in T J Hughes because the zip broke after 3 wearings.
He came home not with one pair, but 2 pairs.
Fine.
Except that he had picked up the wrong size.
This morning we went to exchange them for the right size - without much hope for I had seen that they had almost no pairs that would fit Bill.
Bill got his money back.

Later we went shopping in Dorking - to Marks and Spencers. He bought 2 pairs of corduroy trousers, which cost a bit more of course.

But most of the time we were in "our" shop.
Pilgrims Antiques Centre was buzzing.
Stephen had the juke box playing for much of the time and customers streamed in and spent lots of money.
It is not just a cliche that many men leave things until the last minute!
It was fun to be so busy and we all were happily opening cabinets, wrapping and chatting and sorting out money.

I had a bet on with Hilary about one record playing. She owes me a banana!
She was so sure that Whiter Shade of Pale was from 1970-71.
And I was absolutely certain it was from 1967.
I was right Hilary!

Bill and I went out for lunch. We went to The Old house at Home, situated close to the shop in West Street.
It was a good basic pub and very popular.

The Old House at Home is a lovely Grade II listed timber framed building thought to date from as early as the 14th century.Originally two houses, it is thought to have become a pub some time between 1820 and 1855.The name the Old House at Home comes from an early Victorian song popular with soldiers far from home.
We ate too much!
We ordered toasted sandwiches. My ham and tomato was so stuffed full of ham that I can only assume the person in the kitchen decided to use up what they had.
It was a mistake to have ordered a basket of chips as well!

The shop shut at about 4 o'clock. The hoped for bargains in Waitrose were not to be found - but that's OK we don't badly need anything.

I got home and just needed to sleep.

I am still too tired and too full.
The lobster we bought (frozen) in Lidl will have to wait. I wouldn't have the energy to enjoy it this evening.

We will get a cuppa and a little to eat soon.

It has been a very good way to spend Christmas Eve.
No thoughts of Christmas Eve past.
No sadness about a life that has gone, only peace and contentment about the life that is now.

A happy Christmas Day to you - doing all the things that feel right for you.
