08/08/08 Beacon, Brighton and Beijing.

It has been another full and lovely day.
We went to Brighton. Our journey took us over Ditchling Beacon where we stopped for a walk.

The highest point.

Ekatarina uses the binoculars to really appreciate the view.

Taken by Ecky.

Gathering fairy seed.
We parked at The Marina in Brighton and had some lunch in Wetherspoon's. Its a lovely building and I had the most delicious well cooked gammon and pineapple.
Then we enjoyed a ride on Volk's Railway. This can be found on August blog postings for the last 2 Augusts, so I haven't included pictures this time.
We went for a walk with the crowds on the pier and admired the nerve of people enjoying hair rising rides at the fun fair on the end of the pier.
Our pleasures were simpler - but made us laugh.

View along the beach to the completely destroyed West Pier.
We broke our ride back to The Marina at Halfway Station so that Ekatarina could play in the playground.
She had been there last year and so this time we made preparations for her to enjoy one part that she had had to avoid last year - a change of clothes.

"Oooooh! It's cold"
For a moment I wondered if water play was over before it had started.
But no - she had a wonderful time

We got home and saw most of the opening ceremony for The Olympics on this day 08/08/08.
It was a truly wonderful show.
We are hoping that maybe a DVD is issued of it.
My one misgiving...... can the UK match it in 4 years time?
Exhausted again. Good night.
