1st March Celebration for St David and Felix.

March 1st - St David's Day of course, patron saint of the Land of My Fathers (as their National Anthem tells us). In my case Wales, home of my son, is the land of my grandmother's fathers and his ancestors.

But March 1st can also be added now to significant family dates at this time.
It is Felix's birthday - he was one year old today.

Ruth laid on a celebration for him and he loved it. I think life for Felix became more like home in Madagascar with lots of people about from different generations and of course all were happy to be with him.

Bill and I were there, representing the older generation. Jenny was not there because she has been skiing this week and gets back to England tonight and will be home tomorrow.
Ruth's elder brother Matthew was there and also Matt and Ruth's cousin, Sally.
There were 4 of Ruth's good friends too.

And then there was the younger generation of children. Joel, Matt's son was content to eat and spend time in the garden being Stephen Gerrard, captain of Liverpool Football Club. His sister Anna was delighted to spend time with Felix and also to run around with Evie, daughter of one of Ruth's friends.
Cousin Sally had her 2 small boys with her - Callum and Ryan.

But the star of the afternoon was, on this occasion, Felix.

See that wet shirt..... Bill's Mum would have called him a "dribblepot".
So typical of a child who is cutting teeth.

A friend had made the cake
and items had been found to suit Felix's interests for the decorations.
At the last moment somebody said there should be a candle and a white household candle was found to be lit, blown out as we sang Happy Birthday.

Here is Felix with his new friend, Evie - and Joel at the food table in the background.
Felix is now a walker and walks everywhere, not needing his crawling skills much anymore.

Anna and Felix had a good laugh together and enjoyed looking at the book with cats in, which we gave as a birthday book instead of a birthday card.
Cats are Felix's favourite animal. He met them first in Madagscar and now loves to see them in England too and he says "miaow".

And that has been our day. The sun was shining this morning but we elected not to go to the car boot sale because the wind was strong and chilly. Ford is a long way to go to walk about on a cold drafty disused airfield and maybe not find anything much to buy. And there would have been no time to do anything else whilst down near the coast. Perhaps next saturday!
