Hats and things
Now, how did that happen?
Today I have created a passing likeness to a diligent housewife!
Up quite early. We went to do the week's shopping before half past eight. I offered Bill the chance to stay in bed, but he came with me anyway. I rewarded him with a cappuccino and a finger of shortbread in the Sainsbury's cafe. It was good to relax a while on their comfortable sofa and watch the world for a while.
This morning, my small task of breakfast washing up became extended. Suddenly I was washing china and cleaning the shelves which house plates and all sorts with a personal historical connection.
There is still a bit more to do.
This afternoon I more or less cleared the dining room table - wrote up all the purchases from yesterday;
I spent ages trying to find out about the impressed mark on the base of a fabulous studio pottery vase. I am still none the wiser. Why can't people use their names or the location of their studio?
I also have a seagull to research. This is a large ceramic beautiful seagull, swooping down. Hand made by a French person - H Beynet. (?) I find him (or her) on umpteen sites which all tell of a particular jug with his name on. Nothing else.
Of course, as I worked on my stock, I was keeping one and a half eyes on the tennis.
So, a British finalist at Wimbledon; the first man for 74 years. Can Andy Murray beat Roger Federer on Sunday? Experience suggests not to be too hopeful for him.
Jamie posted another picture of grandson today.
I don't where this was or how come he was on the stage - but given a sniff of a chance, John would always grab an opportunity.
I'll find out more tomorrow.
The hat seems to be important to him.
I took a couple of pictures of hats yesterday - sunhats for sale in the little seafront gift shop at Littlehampton.
