Felt better to get out.

I have loads of photos from today - but they will have to wait until tomorrow.
We had a few hours respite from the grey and the rain - clear blue sky when we woke up.
Off we went to Ford.
I have some interesting bits - well, some much the same as last week, from the same stall holder. I have ventured into the walking stick business. I bought 2, which I liked. people do come into the shop asking for them, either to collect or use.
By 10'clock we were ready to leave - not for Littlehampton this time.
We went for a drink and a bite at the cafe by the bridge over The Arun by Amberley station. I had toasted muffin and jam.
Then we drove into Amberley village to take a walk.
This is the best time of year to explore this village - it is the hollyhock season. They grow almost wild - alongside walls by the side of the road - just everywhere.
I'll quickly give you a web site photos.

There will be plenty of mine and Bill's tomorrow.

Amberley is one of the most lovely villages in Sussex.

As we walked back from the outside of the medieval fortified manor house - known as a castle, but now part of a hotel complex, we were surprised to discover a couple of people we had seen earlier in Ford. We buy from them almost always when we are there. They do house clearance and have a market garden.
Today they had gone to explore Amberley after their stint of selling. They are a lovely couple.

We called in at the village shop for a few basics. But we also bought scrumptious tartlets for our dinner. Mine was  goat's cheese and red onion and was truly superb. I would always go and get another if we were passing.

This afternoon we sat and drank tea and dozed as fit young men pedalled their way up some mighty mountain sides in the Tour de France. Very relaxing - for us. Amazingly British cyclists hold the first 2 places.

There is bunting in our road now- ready for the Olympic torch relay next week. We shall have 2 stints of torch watching - near home and also in Redhill, acting as stewards.

Time for bed now.
