Newcastle Part 2. Fun at The Discovery Museum.
Newcastle. The Discovery Museum.
Museums are best when they provide opportunities for fun as well as learning.
The discovery museum certainly did that and families were there in abundance having fun.
The museum was full of history - of the city, of life and fashion.
And science too.
The science section was very hands on.
Finding out how much electricity household goods use.
Testing reaction times.
I had a few goes and was a bit slow - 0.25 of a second.
Then Bill had a go and measured 0.2 of a second.
So I had to have another go.....and got 0.19.
Then Ashley had a go - and was best of all.....0.18.
Athletes are disqualified for a false start if they react in less than 0.1 of a second.
I stood against a light sensitive screen.
A light was flashed.
I walked away to reveal my shadow.
We took some pictures in the fashion section.
Isn't she lovely?
The one on the right, I mean!
We did take some photos of actual exhibits too.
This is The Turbinia - the first steam turbine powered steamship, built in 1894.
