Brief account of our Newcastle jaunt.

I can't begin to tell the tales of the days of our Newcastle jaunt. The days have been so full and happy. But the evning has now slipped away.
We arrived home this evening and needed some time to chill out after our journey. It was a smooth and easy journey - we were back in Crawley in just under 6 hours. This included a lazy, leisurely stop to relax at Donnington services. The seats in Costa Coffee are so comfortable.....and we have learned how to do such a stop on the cheap! Buy a little something to eat in the M&S shop then order a pot of tea and 2 cups; then ask for the tea pot to be re - filled with hot water....and voila - 2 big cups of tea and a cake; and seats you could fall asleep on.
I know we  could have our own tea and snack with us - but the warmth and comfort make it so worthwhile.
But back to Newcastle...... what a city.
I love it.
We have explored so much - up to the top of the castle. a beautiful library, the cathedral, the indoor market, the Metro and interesting streets - so many quirky details,  We wandered by the Tyne by night - beautiful.
We took the Metro out to Tynemouth. Lovely little town.
We have walked on Hadrian's wall at Housesteads and explored Hexham.
We went to Cragside - a Victorian mansion on a steep and craggy hillside, with vast grounds.
I  have hundreds of photos to sort.
Right - must put a bit of washing in the machine and head off for bed.
Normality starts again in the morning.
