East Head at West Wittering - photographs.
A grey day today.
A contrast to the bright sun of yesterday which gave us the opportunity to explore.
It was a very hazy sun down on the coast - visibility to the distance was not good. But East Head on the Wittering Estate was enriching and we enjoyed trying to capture it with our cameras.
The sand seemed to go on for ever.....merging into the sea and the landscapes beyond. (P)
The tide was far, far out leaving a huge beach and uncovered spits of golden sand between us and Hayling Island. (B).
Bill (P).
Man and dog (P).
Paula (B)
Across the water to Hayling Island. (B).
Stripes of sea and sand. (P).
On the north facing beach (P).
Brent geese love the area - they live, in their thousands here through the winter.
In March they begin to feel restless and will soon be ready for their long journey north to The Arctic.
We saw numerous flights of geese. Many were feeding up for the migration in a field, quite close to the village. They are noisy birds! (B).

A curlew (almost 100% certain) on the sandy mud and in flight (B).
In the summer there would many yachts sailing around East Head and moored. (P)
On the sand dunes - walking across the centre.
I don't know what this plant is, amongst the reedy grasses. (P).
It looks like a vast bleak expanse of empty moorland. (P).
Some of the dunes were fenced off.
Wonderful picture, quickly caught by Bill. (B)
Back to the sandy beach. The tide is coming in.......there is much sand to cover.
