Mostly Slindon in Sussex
Today has been an at home working day.
Things have been photographed and described for EBay. I had to create a title for a Portmeirion bread knife which would be clear to people without using the word knife.....and a Portmeirion carving set. I listed a bread knife once before and Ebay pulled it - they don't sell weapons. Some people seem to get away with it - because obviously kitchen equipment, both ancient and modern can be found on EBay.
The weather has been good - but for today, I wanted to get work done.
I will look back now to another lovely Spring day, when we visited Slindon.
We drove up and up from the main road in the valley to find quite a large village spread across the downland.
We parked the car at the top under the flint wall of Slindon College, a boy's boarding school.
Tall chimneys covered the roof.
We heard the happy noise of boys working in the gardens with chickens. It is a special school with a pupil teacher ratio of 5 to 1 and deals with a variety of problems such as Aspergers, dyslexia etc.
I am sure the school has great success - they would need to with parents paying over £25,000 a year plus a multitude of extras.
The Roman
Catholic Church.
The Church of England Church.
Ancient effigy of Anthony St Leger.
Beautifully carved in oak in 1539.
Slindon claims to be one of the earliest villages to have a cricket team. They beat an All England team in the late 1700s.
The village sign was erected in the year 2000.
At the bottom of Church Hill.
Lovely cottages. Lovely blue sky.
We are promised more sunshine for this Thursday - am beginning to plan an interesting day out.
