Tilgate Park

This morning we drove over to Denham's Auction House to pick up the items that we had successfully bid for.
I have a small pine shelf with hooks, suitable for a kitchen. Not sure if it is pine - maybe stained to look like oak.
I have a cast iron set of hooks - suitable for country kitchen, porch etc.
We also have a cast iron bell on a bracket to hang outside the farmhouse maybe, with a Land Rover on it - to call the men in for lunch. These latter 2 pieces are not very old.
The weather was good and this afternoon we took a walk at Tilgate.
The main lake has been drained and major building works are happening at the damn end - all part of a flood protection scheme. The entire lake is fenced off at the moment.
A lot of other work is going on - clearing of poorer quality undergrowth, shrubs and branches.
A pile of timber was being burned by the small lake.

It was lovely standing by the fire!
We walked back via the nature centre.
There may come a time when we wouldn't pop in for 20 minutes, like today. The new Crawley council are planning an admittance charge.

Bill took some lovely pictures of this beautiful rabbit. This was my favourite.

Pigs' bums!
Just when you think you might get a picture of their sweet little faces, they turn away.

Not that faces are always sweet!
But I can't resist a close up portrait. This type of pig has huge floppy ears.
This evening I feel rather yucky. I hope it is just tiredness and a result of muscle aching. I really don't need a bug for tomorrow, when Roger and Sue will be with us and we are visiting a Frost second cousin.
Early to bed.
This week's Pilgrim's Antiques blog is now posted.
