Mostly yesterday at Nai Yang.

No more rain.
Hooray!

Bill and I went out on out own yesterday.
We drove to the beautiful north west of the island to a small village by the sea, where we had been last year.
Almost all seaside places attract tourists, but Nai Yang is more basic than most places.

We settled into our little house for some lunch.
We didn't sit at tables out in the open.
This was my view from the little house.

Soon the view was filled with other delights.
Water melon crush and pineapple crush - ice cubes, fruit and a couple of spoonfuls of thin syrup whooshed up in a blender.
Delicious.
This was the seaside and we paid sea side prices - about 1 pound, but we did get an orchid and chunk of pineapple on the glass.
Today I had the same drink from a roadside vendor for about 30p - but no orchid of course!

Lunch.
Chicken and pineapple and things and chicken satay. I had assumed that it might be diced chicken in a satay sauce - but I am equally familiar with chicken on sticks with satay sauce on the side. There was also rice of course.

Siesta time - we had comfy cushions in the little house.

Then time for a walk along the bay.
The water was so warm - I wished I had swimming things. It would have been OK at Nai Yang yesterday, but I am wary of the sea during the low season. There are tales of people being carried far out to sea and drowning.

Look - no tourists!

Bill spotted a couple of circling eagles, By the time camera was at the ready he saw only one.

Coconuts on the lovely beach.

Orchids growing on dead wood just outside our little house.

About a mile inland was a temple that really appealed to me - one of the most beautiful and peaceful.
The garden was wonderful.

Twice already we have eaten at the good, cheap local cafe.
This was was on Tuesday - Mam has had her hair cut since then.
Mam may be cooking tonight - but who wants to cook when it is hot and a meal and a drink can be bought for a pound?
We can't go to the same cafe - closed on Fridays.

Jessica took this photo of happy Nanny and John.
Today has been more mundane and less active.
The highlight so far as been the wonderful meal at the Japanese restaurant, Fuji.
I had tempura prawns and Bill had beef with noodles and vegetables - and rice, soup, kimchee, salad, sauces. We shared our main meals of course. We finished with melon, papaya and pineapple.
The more mundane item for the day was to seek out a new loo flush handle!
The plastic arm that connects the handle to the ballcock thing had broken.
Fantastic store - eat your heart out B & Q!
Mam has gone to collect children and then Jamie - they'll be back quite soon.
Might have to wake Bill up. He is in the bedroom - was reading.
