Godstone Farm for Grandmas and Girls.

Godstone Farm is a wonderful place for children.
There are animals of course. There are posters with information and vocabulary - and jokes!
Children have the opportunity to spend time with many of the animals and stroke them and feed them.
There is the largest play area in south east England with all manner of climbing apparatus, sand pits, swinging things and places for more imaginative play.
There is a very good indoor play area too.
And in the summer time there are craft activities.
It is very good value, and sensibly adults pay less than the children.
If you are in the area you might like to check out the web site.

Ekatarina and I have spent the day there today - with my friend Jo and her grand daughter Florence.
Two grandmas and their two grand daughters.
It was a day of much chatting.
Naturally Jo and I talked constantly.
I was delighted, though, to hear the constant chatter from the two girls who get on very well indeed.

Both Ecky and I took pictures - but not many, for we were too busy.
The girls had so much to do and see.

I think we walked round everything.
We saw 4 day old piglets and a tiny Shetland pony foal.
We have made papier mache pigs, which will need decorating at home when they are completely dry.
We have played and talked and enjoyed our picnic.
We were all very tired at the end of the day - but very satisfied.

The pictures today are all mine and show a bit of what the girls enjoyed. I hope there will be a picture of a decorated pig later in the week.

On walking through the gate we were greeted by animals in the field - goats who could "trip trap" over the bridge like the Billy Goats Gruff - and the llamas.

Ekatarina had memories of the funny little mouse house.
I think she and Florence were far more interested in finding out about each other than the mice.
We did love the soft furry ferret babies close by.

It was difficult to get good pictures of the girls stroking the rabbits.

After our picnic we went to the play area.

The girls tried out lots of things.

Here they are in one of the sand pits.

A favourite with many children is sliding down the wet slop on a tray.
Ecky felt it was not for her.
But Florence did have a go last year. She has had the chance to grow bolder with her older brothers and older cousins.

Here she is at the bottom of the slope - feeling excited.

Florence managed to climb to the top of this apparatus - but needed some advice from her Grandma to get down safely.

Ekatarina climbed up high - but couldn't quite find the nerve to get onto the very top.

Ekatarina and Florence - Ecky and Floss - in Jo's front garden.
I hope Mam recognises the T shirt - which Ecky loves and is very pleased to have it. She said Thank You.

And here are the two Grandmas - not looking anywhere near as exhausted as were feeling!
