Young E at Tilgate.

Tilgate Park is a very fine amenity close to home.
There are lovely lakes, trees and flowers and a Nature Centre to educate and entertain which is justifiably proud of its conservation work.

After a day of rain, the skies cleared and we went for a walk.

Ekatarina took lots of pictures in the Nature Centre - but this first section is mostly about her.

This one was taken in the nature centre by Bill.
Ecky and I were full of admiration because we had both taken the same shot and failed.
We both have the cage in front of the cockatiels well in focus and the birds were hardly more than a blur.
In Bill's picture you can hardly see the cage at all.

Ecky also has a picture of the peacock - but such a beautiful bird deserves being seen more than once.

This picture tells a story.
There is a small maze in the walled garden - not very hard to find your way in and out of, but fun to run around in and play.
People were not getting lost.
But the mother hen and the tiny chick were lost in there.
I chatted with other children and one very earnest boy was adamant that something should be done.
He didn't rest until he had done something - dragging somebody from the office to rescue mother and chick.
Here they are strutting behind the fence of the allotment garden.

The walled garden was looking superb.

Ecky balancing and full of joy.

In the wild garden with brilliant tall rosebay willow herb.

Ecky poses beautifully by the smaller lake - often known as Campbell's Lake because of its connection with Sir Malcolm Campbell who once held the water speed record.

Grandma and Ekatarina by the big lake.

An interesting sculpture to walk along. The tree trunk was studded with all sorts of metal objects to add texture.

I like this picture.
Ecky climbed up onto the fallen tree trunk by the small car park.
Now scroll down to see Ekatarina's animal pictures.
