02 Feb Part 2 Milton Mount - Wildlife and the lake

PART 2. Milton Mount Gardens.

We looked for signs of Spring.
Here are a selection of flower and animal pictures.

We don't know the name of this early flowering yellow bloom.

Just a little clump of snowdrops.

The squirrel was so intent on eating that he didn't object to us however close we got.

Reflections in the lake.

Goose reflections.

It looks idyllic - and there is much to enjoy.
Our pictures do not tell the complete truth for Milton Mount is a smart, affluent housing area and the woods, gardens and lake are surrounded by houses.
The M23 is not far away, so there is the roar of traffic.
And, with the wind coming from the North, there was an even greater roar of aeroplanes taking off and landing at Gatwick.
Despite this we will return to see the formal gardens in high summer.
And we must find the ornamental rocks. The garden designer created a stone, used extensively for rock features in large mansion gardens throughout the country. James Pulham's rocks were known as pulhamite.
