Mushrooms at the farm
Do we actually want to get up on this cold morning and drive to Ford?
Oh yes, I love the hunting.
But not today.....turn over and doze some more.
A little later I got up and made cups of tea and a slices of toast and marmalade to eat in bed.
After breakfast we went to buy some expensive mushrooms.
Well, the mushrooms themselves were not expensive.
But I had decided I would like to investigate a local farm shop that opened this year. It is much smaller than Tulleys Farm and a bit smaller than the one we frequent near Ford.
But it was lovely.
Of course we bought just a little more than mushrooms.
Having sampled strawberry cider from the barrel, we decided to buy a pint.
The web site of New House Farm tells me that the family have farmed the land here for 4 generations. I am guessing that the opening of a successful farm shop is one way of ensuring that the farming might continue into the next generation.
There is also a cafe - a popular cafe.
We enjoyed a large pot of tea for 2 and tried 2 of the lovely cakes at the counter. The chocolate brownie was fantastic - all gooey with a thick chocolatey fudgy texture.
In the summer it would be possible to sit outside and enjoy the views across the countryside - instead of through the window.
This afternoon somebody came to deal with the problems with our TV. In fact all he had to do was put the controls on the remote to the correct setting......some fiddling has been going on.
He also advised about the ailing TV in the bedroom.....aerial problem.
Shame we couldn't suss it out ourselves - but Bill was just left wondering what had gone wrong and not been able to fix it. That bothered him. I am glad we paid somebody to ease the bother.
I have been to the doctor's this afternoon - saw the nurse for my Vitamin B12 injection.
Had thought of going to Dorking for their late night shopping extravaganza - but the weather got worse (raining). So we decided an evening at home was best for us.
