Northumberland Trip Part 4: Hexham.
Our visit to Hexham (Hexum) was fairly short...time for lunch, a walk round the abbey and some streets and time too spent in a charity book shop.
Did Ashley have to check out every book?
I was tired.
I didn't take the first picture myself.
And now for the sort of quirky detail that I like to find.
Dancing with Death - from a series of images in the choir stalls.
The underside of the tiny ledge/seat available for tired choristers to sit on in the choir stalls.
Each one was different.
The word Hexham was, in the past, a euphemism for "hell".
More recently it has been voted as England's favourite market town.
The truth lies somewhere in between.
