Sapam - village on east coast of Phuket.
After we had enjoyed a second look round Sapam shrine, we decided to take a walk in the village.
We took pictures of her chairs.
We have no picture of An - she was not expecting visitors and didn't feel prepared for photographs. But there are some on facebook for us to remember her with.
Bill joined three photographs of Sapam houses - all next to each other, but not curved quite like that.
So many people have caged birds - birds to love and also to bring glory. There are caged bird competitions often.
Working in the heat of the afternoon to fill sacks with tiny silver fish.
The fish sorter also had caged birds - of a very different kind.
I love this kind of thing - we had no idea what we would see and who we would meet.
We didn't realise, when we began, that the village street stretched from the main road down to a fishing beach area.
Nor did we know that we would make a friend in the village.
Many Thai houses have lovely grand gates like this.
As we admired the house, a woman came to greet us.
Would we like a drink of water?
Well, yes - that is always good.
So we entered the cool room, furnished with Chinese style wood - and all the modern trimmings like a computer set up in the corner. It was a lovely home.
We got to know our host just a little. Her name is An - that's the shortened name, that most Thai's have. Names are normally long.
We are now facebook friends and one day we will see her again.

Thank you An for your love and friendliness.
Beginning today, treat everyone you meet as if they were going to be dead by midnight. Extend to them all the care, kindness and understanding you can muster, and do with no thought of any reward. You life will never be the same again.

This is one of An's thoughts recorded on Facebook - a good thought.
We continued to the end of the road.
What would we see beyond the bicycle?
Will it sit there and rust?
Or is somebody going to make a fortune from their investment?
The beach was sandy and was a place for working - fishing mostly.
I confess I bent and picked a shell from one of their buckets - and it came home with me to treasure.

It shows the range of homes that can be found adjacent to each other - from shacks to a grand pink house.

Road side stalls are common place.
This old man and his wife boost their income by selling fried bananas and things.
We bought a bag for our lunch.
Then it was time to rejoin the family.
Holidays had begun - Jamie had finished work and the school had closed for 5 weeks.
Jamie's holidays are not complete breaks - he is dealing with emails at home morning and evening.
But we had time now to do things together.
