Selling in Dorking and Buying at the Market.
Today I am thinking of selling and buying.
It was Monday and we enjoyed the drive to Dorking in the sunshine. The leaves on the trees are now turning to yellows, golds and browns and the countryside was looking good.
But people today have not been feeling so good. My feeling of malaise continues - and Bill feels it too. Monika has been struck with a bug and was not on good form either - and Julie didn't turn up at all. We are a bit worried about Julie; since her accident she has been low and is sleeping too much during the day. Her age makes recovery slow.
Sales for Bill and me thus far during September and October have been really good. We needed some energy to make sure our areas were looking interesting and full.
It was a bit frustrating that on our first day in for 5 weeks we didn't actually sell any of our own things.
But the amount taken is totting up nicely.
There should be enough for my plane ticket to Thailand in a year's time.
I feel determined that I will make the trip next year - though I am sure I will leave Bill at home.
The food suited me so well.
I was healthy there - happy and fit and with energy.
Perhaps some of my malaise has been due to allowing my body to snack and eat on things not best suited to my needs.
The pain in my ribs has made it hard to think and plan sensibly....and I can't just pop out for a bowl of noodles for about a pound in Crawley.
On our first Sunday in Thailand, Bill and I popped out for a while alone to walk and eat at Sapan Hin.
This is an area south of Phuket Town which combines work and relaxation. There is some industry and fishing along the canal, but there is also green space by the sea where people have picnics and go jogging or walking in the late afternoon.
The canal flows through Phuket Town and out to sea.
This view has a hint of a Dutch bridge and canal.
It is certainly just as well that cafes provide tables and chairs for diners too.
Imagine if I had to eat my meals at such a table as this.
How would I get down there?
How could I sit crossed legged on the floor
Call that a beer?
Just look at the colour! Gnat's pee or what!
But it was a long and cold drink - but perhaps not best drunk in the middle of the day!
I dined on prawn fried rice -- Thai pronunciation (but not spelling of course) is Cow Pat Goon!
Delicious!
The Leelawadis were blooming on the grassy areas by the beach.
The weekend market was the venue for the evening meal for many and there was much to choose from.
Sausages and meatballs.
Fresh coconuts.
Jamie and Jessica choose some snacks for us to nibble with much needed drink.
There are stalls of second hand clothes and shoes at this market - and often second hand other things too.
An ice cream seller - this motor vehicle is very unusual in Thailand.
John and iced lolly.
Time for a rest and our snacks.

Later, most of us went to the weekend market.
Bill stayed at home.
I think he must have been the only Phuketian at home - certainly a high percentage were at the weekend market.
It was crazy! Parking was a nightmare.
Many of the stalls were cheap and colourful clothes and bags - rather like any other market we have visited in the world.
But we did buy some white cotton shirts.
I have long been very happy wearing white. Bill and Jamie have both realised that with their spreading contours a cool crisp white shirt is more flattering than a T shirt.
He photographs most of the Thai mannequin dummies he sees; so, in his absence I found him this one.
They had a sort of marzipan taste.

But then, you don't find much at Crawley market!

On the way back to the car (who remembers where we parked it?), John played at modelling sunglasses.
We visited the market again the following Sunday - without the children, so that Jamie could take the opportunity of a good photo shoot, ready to post on his blog.
It's 10 o'clock now. Exhaustion is setting in. But hopefully the worst of things is passing.
The cracked ribs don't feel so bad today.
But I still feel like I have had no sleep for days.
Sleep is disturbed and I have experienced strange dreams.
Goodnight world!
