Khao Sok
Quiet Saturday.
Evening at The Beach Bar
Jamie's Blog: The Beach Bar
Maybe there will be some pictures of my own tomorrow.
For now - some pictures of our trip to Khao Sok and my own personal adventure.
Our stay was at Cliff and River - sums it up well.
Steep valley down to river, surrounded by giant peaks with cliff faces.
Looking down from Reception at the top.

Bill by swimming pool.
Bill on our balcony.
Looking up from restaurant to the bungalows facing the cliff - one was ours.
Jamie, Mam, Jessica and John on balcony,
Thursday afternoon - mighty tropical rain storm.
It was wet out on the balcony.
Balcony.
Ah! It's brightening up.
Restaurant.
Sunset from restaurant.
Lovely flowers every where,
Our nurse who filled in a form for me. I now have a hospital number on my personal card.
We waited to see the dentist, perusing the usual "look after your teeth" information.
Then I was called through. Small Chinese looking man, with rimless glasses and who spoke no English beckoned me to the chair.
Bill got the opportunity to photograph some Thai nurses on a motor bike.

Bats flitted round under the eaves. Clever Bill captured this one on camera.
Lovely flowers every where,
I forgot to pick up my denture fixative.
It is ghastly without it. Can't chew, teeth rattle up and down, or I look like a vampire without it.
Surely I could buy some more?
But we were in the middle of the country.
We drove about 20 miles to nearest village. Supermarket had toothbrushes, but no fixative.
Saw a small local hospital....surely they would have a pharmacy?
So Bill and I walked in to the crowded hospital/clinic.
Nobody seemed to speak English. Of course we have no Thai.
There was one nurse, who took some details.
The dentist would see me soon, she told me.

"No, No,No!"
Then I took my denture out and pointed to what remained of fixative on it and gestured my need for more.
One dental assistant got the message and quickly brought a tube to me.
It cost us 89 Baht - just less than 2 pounds.

We met her going home for lunch and calling in at the small 7 -11 supermarket,
Then back, through the magnificent scenery for lunch.
We had an interesting journey back to Phuket, yesterday (Friday). Called in at small town - seemingly one that time forgot - full of history, no tourists of course.
Lots more pictures of course.
