Are BT good enough to return to?
I don't understand!
Things technological often see to pass my brain by.
We have to have a working telephone line in order to use broadband ..... right? That's what I believe I have been told.
Last night we, unfortunately did not have a working telephone line.
So - no broadband.
It was a frustrating time - mostly because Bill was on the mobile phone for about an hour trying first to get through to tiscali about our non working line and then trying to make a girl in a call centre understand about non working phone lines.
But it must have been effective because quite early this morning a BT engineer came and worked on the problem.
The biggest problem was probably the fact that the men working on landscaping the medical centre had cut through the line - but there were other BT line faults too.
So, by midday we had a working telephone and broadband.
Thought the speed of our broadband had dropped even lower - we never get above about 2.5.
By about 3 o'clock we had no working telephone (us and everybody else living in our row) - but we still have working broadband.
Hence my quandary - is it true that we need a telephone line to have broadband?
But my brain does feel addled today.
I cannot claim to have worked anything like as hard as Bill over the last few days, but it has been a busy time.
Our lounge is back to normal.
Well, not exactly because it is much better than it normally used to be.
I can sit in there and smile to myself about how bright and airy and clutter free it seems.
Not that we have gone minimalist I assure you!
We still have shelves with lots of things on - but less things than before by far.
De-cluttering is good for the soul!
There is too much we keep just because we have always kept them. For example, many years ago, if you went to the cinema to see a big film you could buy a souvenir programme. Bill was in the habit of doing this. And about 10 of them sat on the shelves, never looked at, and only valued because they had been in our possession for almost 50 years.
At some point I shall see if anybody else would like them and list them on EBay.
I have been doing a lot of that today - just getting things written up in my stock book from amongst the boxes of rejects from our own shelves.
Of course I was watching tennis at the same time. I don't think anybody really believed that our Andy could beat the lovely Nadal - but he put up a good fight.
The Dutch put up such a good fight that they knocked the favourites out of the football world cup. Mind you The Dutch have always been favourites of mine.
Tomorrow Le Tour de France starts - in Holland!
We are going to Ford and Littlehampton in the morning. It will be good to get away and feel the sea breeze on our faces.
