Some people carry on despite the rain.
We were awake....it wasn't raining, so we decided to get in an hour or so at Pease Pottage before the rains came.
The Bentley followed the yellow bus southwards. The driver eager for that good lunch I mentioned, to be shared with a bus passenger. I wonder how often she travels on a bus!
The organisers had other ideas. They decided to cancel.
So, we came home and had our breakfast.
Some events are cancelled because of the weather, but many carry on regardless.
The annual run of commercial vehicles is always held on the first Sunday in May.
For the last few years the football club has been a good stopping off point for those taking part and for people to see the vehicles.

There are "facilities" for those travelling from London to Brighton and a refreshments stall and a stall of books and models.
We decided to go over, despite the rain.
We had been hearing today that just 5 minutes of exercise in the fresh air is very beneficial to mental health.
So, rain or no rain we thought we get our 5 minutes.
Sadly very few vehicles decided to stop this year.
If they were motoring well, I guess their drivers saw it preferable to carry straight on down to Brighton - get warm there and be there for a good lunch.
We saw a few cars and a few people - including a man we know; don't know his name though!
This is its bonnet motif.
Never mind - somebody on the bus is promised a better ride home again!

And here is the bonnet of a Bedford van - with appropriate car badges.
We soon wandered over to the football club stand to get some cover from the rain and met "our friend".
He used to be a customer at the old Rocking Horse.
We saw him and chatted to him last Sunday as we sold at the boot sale.
He likes to join in with things and next weekend he will have a stall at The Bluebell Railway weekend, with a 1940s theme.
When we last went over to view the commercial vehicles he was dressed as a 1940s policeman. That was 3 years ago.
We were not out for very long.
We were home with plenty of time for me to be describing more EBay things - I have 16 more things listed now.
The rain has stopped now. We look forward to a boot sale tomorrow morning.
And right now we look forward to a roast dinner - must get on!
