Crawley. Tilgate Park and Nature Centre.

Ths sky looked special this morning when I peered through the curtains at 8 o'clock.
What a pity I hadn't known to wake at 7 o'clock - when I would have been treated to a fantastic meteor shower show.
I persuaded Bill that today would be a good day for a walk.
We went to our nearest beauty spot - Tilgate Park.
The people of Crawley are very fortunate to have this amenity close at hand and provided just to make us feel good. It costs nothing to spend time there.

I guess even on January 4th, it is probable to find signs of Spring. And yes - we found Springtime.

Heron, keeping an eye on the life in the lake.

Memories of last year's hydrangea flowers.

There has been quite a lot of tree clearing around the lake; leaving interesting tree stumps.

Rhododendron bud - a true promise of Springtime to come.

The camellias have decided that Spring is here.
They are always amongst the first flowers of the year - but January 4th seems very early.

I know there are early varieties of daffodils.......but we don't often see them as early as January 4th.

Is that a fish gliding away from the reeds?

It was a lovely morning. The wind was chilly, but good to be out.
