Lovely day with lovely cars.

This is a poor weekend for blogging!
I am not going to get around to sharing pictures of the day with you. I'll do that tomorrow.
It has been an interesting day, though.

The first part was not interesting enough - the A3 car boot sale.
At least it was not cancelled.
But the terrible weather of yesterday led lots of sellers to stay away.
The stall holders who were there didn't have things that I wanted - except one.

Having decided on the A3 sale, I then hatched a plan for the rest of the morning, which I felt sure would please Bill.
I sometimes feel I can measure the success of an activity by the amount of photographs he took.
Today he took getting on for one hundred! He must have been happy.
We went to Mercedes Benz World - built on the edge of the Brooklands track and museum.
Wow! What a fabulous building it is.
This place is, firstly a car showroom.....but it is much, much more.
It is a centre for driving, history, learning, entertainment and so on.

First we sat in the cafe and enjoyed hot drinks and a bite to eat, watching the Mercedes World spring into life.
We wandered and admired.
There were things going on inside and out.
Then we watched a film about the history of motoring, motor racing, the company. It was a lovely cinema.
We then joined a guided tour. It took us all around and also into the VIP area.
The rich and famous have their own entrance to this area and have the opportunity to talk seriously expensive cars out of the public gaze. Our guide said that even the coffee tastes better in the VIP lounge.
Bill got a laugh when he suggested that this be proved to us!

Later we got another drink - and a sit down! The place was quite crowded by this time - many people there for an afternoon out.

For now I will leave you with one photo - is it technology or is it art?
It is a suspended, exploded F1 racing car.
Actually this is an artist's impression - there are, in fact,  5 times as many parts in a F1 car.

It was a good free day out.

We had to get home because I still had parcels to make and payments to deal with. None of the sold items yesterday were books - they were more fragile items requiring bubble wrap and boxes.

I kept up with the goings on at Sandwich - the last day of the Open Golf Championships.
I was delighted with the result.
Darren Clarke has been through much pain and anguish with the cancer and death of his young wife.
The tide is now turning. His golf is relaxed and he is planning to marry again.

Time for bed. I hope you will enjoy tomorrow's pictures.
I think mine and Bill's will have a different slant  - though there is also much that is similar.

Have a good week.
