Yamu and Po on the east. Thursday 14th may.

We have been to Po Bay twice before and on this little tour of the north east coast of the island we added Yamu to the itinery.
Po Bay is being developed - and that is how it should be of course; the people deserve good facilities and more money.
But modern developments don't make for such interesting viewing.
So we were pleased to see that Yamu remains much more part of the old world - with its wooden jetty for long tail boats.

There was driftwood strewn across the foreshore. How I would have liked to have taken this piece home to be placed in our garden.

This picture of long tail boats and fishing gear revels that Yamu is changing.
There is a large building, maybe a hotel, being built at the end of the bay.
Po Bay is a little to the north of Yamu.

Here there is a long concrete jetty suitable for large motor launches.

This picture of the rickety wooden jetty is from 3 years ago.
In truth even then the new jetty was in existence.
The time before when we were there this was the only jetty.
Now it has gone completely.

There has been development at either end of the bay - and there is a marina to the north of the headland. I don't recall the solid stone building at the end of the road being there last time.
It is where we ate this year.
The view across the water was very pleasant.

And on the south end of the bay I saw a scene to remind me of the old days at Po.
