South of the island. Tuesday May 12th.

On Tuesday we visited places that one or both of us had been to before.
We dropped John off at school with Jamie (Mam had already arrived there with Jessica) and then we drove with Jamie to Sunrise Divers.

Here is the place where Jamie works and grows fat!
He spends many hours at the computer.
The office is at Karon on the west side of the island.
We crossed the island and then headed south to find a beach I had visited with Mam 2 years ago - Leaem Ka.
You would not find it without some knowledge - turn sharp left into a tiny road by the side of a 7/11 shop.
It is not a tourist beach; there are no facilities. We noticed that at lunch time groups of Thai people gathered there though.

I enjoyed my time on the beach in the hot sun.
It was then lunchtime.
We selected a restaurant we have been to before high above Chalong Bay with tremendous views.
It was good there - but such a pity that we didn't check out the Beach Bar first. Later we saw it open.......and sadly that was just about the last day of the season that it was open. Bill still has not been there.

We enjoyed our fruits shakes whilst we waited for our plates of rice and prawns.
I specially loved the pineapple shake - but later began to opt for water melon shake instead.
The shakes are made by putting fresh fruit, ice and a little fruit syrup into a blender.
The drink is thick and you need a spoon to scrape out every bit.

It is a pretty little roadside cafe.

A cafe with lovely views to enjoy.

There were more views from the Cape Panwa viewpoint - a tower built on the hill from where you can see much of the south of the island.

We walked down to the nearly empty car park and chatted with some women with a puppy and another couple.
I have now forgotten the little dog's name - but he was very cute.

Before going home we stopped at Svenson's - the American ice cream cafe.
I was wise and opted for a sorbet but Bill didn't need such caution and he ordered an iced cappuccino.
My Bill, that's a big one!

Tomorrow perhaps I will share with you some more school pictures.
Then we will start the good day we had exploring Phuket City.
