Wednesday. The new camera.
It has been another gentle day in Monkland.
I slept late for a start. Maybe this was as a result of taking an antihistamine last night and maybe because I was up for a while with the "gipping flut".
But it was lovely to come to this morning at 8 o'clock instead of 5 o'clock.
We stayed home this morning until the postman had called.
I was hoping my new camera would arrive - and it did.
The EBay seller was magnificent.
My new Canon is the Powershot A640 being sold by a very genuine seller on EBay. This is the upgraded version of my old camera. The camera had belonged to her father and he doesn't need it any more. It has arrived complete in the box with memory cards etc and a good carrying case - and all the original receipts. It is 2 or 3 years old and hardly been used I would say.
I paid £102 for it, including postage. That is about one third the original price.
I am very pleased.
We will keep the old Canon and Bill will see if he can do anything about the lens shutters which don't open when it is switched on. If he can get it working that would be very good because I was thinking of getting a cheap camera for Ecky to play around with in the summer.
And here is the first picture I took with the new camera - just to check it out.
Bill is studying the book of words that came with it.
Let's face it - a new camera in the house is of great interest to Bill and it was he who checked it out first.
I am very pleased with it and my method of getting it - anything that avoids trailing round shops is a good move for me.
We have also been to Asda for a few bits - and a few bits more.
Tonight we have stuffed ourselves on food from the ready prepared eastern meals counter. It was a good Thai meal, with 2 main dishes, lots of rice and some spring rolls.
Maybe I should take some more Imodium!
This afternoon I dutifully went with Bill to B & Q and Homebase. He is looking at some shelving to make his area at the shop more workable.
The 2 stores had nothing suitable.
I almost succeeded in finding the perfect shelf on the internet.
The firm, Wickes had just the thing. But it was out of stock on the page. So Bill phoned the Dorking branch - just a few minutes walk from Pilgrims.
Sadly they are unable to get this shelf at the moment.
It looks like there might be a trip to Ikea next week.
We have sorted more pictures. Bill has nearly done all his from the Thai holiday. I am going through in episodes, as you know, and I am still on the first Monday!
Scroll down to see the Buddha in the cave.
Tomorrow we are doing an extra day in the shop.
Those in the south east of England will have experienced the drop in temperature today. The clouds that swept in after lunch darkened the world and we felt a bit chilly - still haven't put socks on though.
