Didn't we have a Loverly time......
We are back home after a lovely time in North Wales.
There has been lots to do and lots to see and enjoy.
And most of all we have spent time with both family and friends.
Our journey there was punctuated by a picnic and stroll along the Llangollen Canal to the mighty aqueduct of Pontsycyllte.
The weather was really good.
In the evening we went to Beaumaris and enjoyed fish and ships on the green by the sparkling waters with the mountains of Snowdonia over on the mainland.
If Bodiam, mentioned in the last blog I wrote is the most perfect castle, then Beaumaris is a very a close second.
The next day we went for a walk along Bangor Pier. The pier stretches a long way across the Menai Staits - almost to Anglesey.
Then we went to see Pete and Jean and enjoyed a lovely lunch and a relaxing afternoon sitting in the garden and talking.
The next day we were back over the bridge to Beaumaris again.
Young Ecky wanted to go to the indoor play area.
Bill spent her play time exploring round the headland and the castle and Ashley spent a little time in the church.
We got some take away food again and sat on the pier, watching the lifeboat being launched.
We then walked to the castle, once again. There are children's park things outside the castle walls.
It was back into town again to buy superb ice creams - I had woodland fruits sorbet and it was yummy.
We then drove to Penmon Point and played on the rocks and looking into rock pools.
The lighthouse has a bell which tolls about every 30 seconds.
It was a wonderful spot in the afternoon sun - with Puffin Island just across the water and Snowdonia looking spectacular.
We also stopped to walk at Penmon Priory.
On Saturday we went back to Anglesey for a car boot sale.
And then we had some lunch in Penmaenmawr.
And then to the spectacular gardens at Bodnant.
This morning - we were back over the Menai Bridge once more for a boot sale at the showground. We bought a bit more than yesterday - I seem to have started into vintage clothes! Ashley bought an electric guitar and Ecky has another beautiful china doll to join the 5 that she got in Crawley in February and that we had taken up there.
We left Bangor at about quarter to midday and had hoped to be home by 6 o'clock.
We enjoyed a motorway services stop and had a Starbucks drink and toasted paninis in easy chairs, overlooking trees and yellow irises along a stream.
And all was going well with the journey - until about 60 miles from home.
Was everybody in the London area away for half term?
It seemed so, with all the motorways heaving slowly to a halt.
Ignore the gantry signs - if they advise you that the speed is 40 miles per hour, they actually mean stop!
But here we are at home, with lots of photos to sort.
There will be no time tomorrow - it is a shop day.
Thank you Ashley, Liz and Ecky for some lovely days with you.
