Maybe should be hibernating.
Perhaps we should have stayed in bed this morning.
But then we would have missed some good things - but, on the whole, the trip out was not a great success.
We left home when it was still dark and drizzling.
"Never mind" I assured Bill, "the Met Office site tells us that the weather will improve"
It did - but not before the rain fell more on Ford.
Having made the effort I wanted to buy.
I declined the T G Green blue and white kitchen ware on the first time round.
But I thought I saw profit.
So I returned and bought - through the gloom it seemed to have all the right marks stamped on the bottom.
Once home it slowly dawned on me that I might have spent £100 on fakes....reproduction I choose to describe it as on the tickets. I don't know if the seller knew and was happy to off load it, or if he had been fooled too.
It looks good and this china is popular, so I feel confident that I shall get my money back and hopefully a bit more.
Having walked around in the rain we felt cold and tired.
We popped into Littlehampton for breakfast - joining almost a social club of people who we meet regularly.
The main pleasure today was being greeted by a man we saw each week, during last winter but had never spoken to.
He sits in The George with his lap top and works.
He is quite elderly - older than us anyway.
Today, despite him telling me that he tends to be rather unsociable, he chatted away and told lots about himself.
We took no photos today.
This is from a web site.
Looks like the photographer was in Littlehampton on a rainy day.
By the time we came out the skies were blue....the Met Office site had been correct.
The George is in Surrey Street.
This picture shows the end of Surrey Street.
It has changed a lot in the last part of the 20th century.
But the river remains the same.
We didn't even walk to the end of the road today.
It was chilly and I had some other plans.
Plans which came to nothing.
I had seen a poster for a Christmas market weekend in Arundel - a good photo opportunity I thought.
But I had not, obviously, absorbed the date of the event.
Nothing much happening in Arundel today.
But feeling tired, we were happy to drive home. We stopped off at The Corn Store, by the river in Pulborough.
It is a lovely shop. It is clean and well laid out. Music plays gently.
There is a small tea room.
The sections sell interesting old stuff and also new things.
I bought something new to take to Dorking.
Just at the moment, with fancy cup cakes being all the rage, old fashioned cake plates are in demand.
I bought a pretty 2 tier one for £14 - and assume I can get £20 for it.
Not a vast profit, but enough.
This afternoon I had things finishing on EBay.
Not many things sold.
But enough.
I thought this might be bought a stocking filler Christmas present.
But the buyer is either a fanatical collector of football related things - or a dealer.
It's an Avon soap on a rope.
We had my vegetable soup this evening and a jacket potato with salad.
We opened a bottle of red wine from Chile.
Maybe it was the wine or maybe I was just tired....but I even dozed in front of X Factor. Can't be sure who performed well this week.
Tomorrow morning I look forward to a long lie in.
