Fun in the Monsoon.

Now that's what I call monsoon rain!
We have had 5 inches in the last 24 hours.
But this morning, at least, it is dry.
Sadness creeps in now....for this is our last day.
It will be a strange parting this time - maybe easier, maybe not.
Mam and the children are going to Chumphon today for a family funeral. There has been much soul searching from Mam.....should I stay or should I go?
We assured her that she must do what feels right for her and what she can look back on and be satisfied about.
It was only this morning that she finally made up her mind.
Jamie will take the day off work, so we will spend the day with him. I think it might be hot and sunny.

Yesterday was wet....did I mention that?

This was at the traffic lights at Tesco Junction.

We had brunch at a noodle shop in Kathu village.
This kind of noodle shop - open to the road is very popular - and cheap and tasty. It got crowded with lunchtime office girls.

Outside, the rain continued unabated.
But let's keep smiling.

Now there's something to smile about! Noodles, pork and veg in tasty soup.

I had been determined to visit the sea gypsy village in Sire Island. This island is now joined to Phuket by a bridge.
The torrential rain did make for a short visit.

John was quite appalled that the boys were running about naked.

The main street seemed very crowded. We realised that we were there on the day of a local festival.
The music and dancing was under cover.
All dressed up and hurrying to the dance.

The focus of the festival. The decorated boat would be carried into the sea at sunset - maybe set alight.
The boat carries the problems and troubles of the village and the village people.
Time for a  fresh start.

And so it is for Bill and me.
The time of Phuket, family, fun, food, photos and falling rain is soon to be in the past.
Remember - Phuket does not begin with the 'f' sound!
