Our visit to Portmeirion.
Portmeirion - a whimsical fantasy village on the North wales coast. It was built in the 1920's by William Clough Ellis in an Italian style.
Tomorrow I will show you pictures which show the village and its surroundings, and explain its history a bit. But today you can see Katya and Ashley and Bill and me as we enjoy our visit.
Portmeirion stands on a hillside overlooking a wide estuary. The views were wonderful, looking across the water to the mountains beyond.
This twin tailed mermaid was used often in the village as decoration.
Katya enjoyed running around, through smugglers tunnels and onto the imaginary concrete boat that sits by the water's edge.
Ashley doesn't like posing for photographs.
I think this is a nice shot of him with a beautiful background.
Ashley likes exploring and climbing.
The rocks by the water show fantastic strata.
Yet another picture showing the estuary, this time with me.
Ashley and I sit on the side of the concrete boat waiting as Katya played.
She was Captain Katya and I was crewman Jack; we battled against the pirates and locked them away.
Perhaps this is one of the wicked pirates!
Bill called this picture The Prisoner - an apt title because Portmeirion was used for filming the TV series of the same name.
