11th August An afternoon with Jenny

On a lovely sunny Saturday we went to see Jenny - my father's widow.
After a splendid meal in the new dining room, housed in the converted out-house to the left of the kitchen we went into the garden for coffee followed by a games of boules.

Ekatarina got the hang of it and she won one of the games.

Bill and Ashley vied with each other to be the champion player.

Distances were carefully measured to see whose boule might be the closest. It was never mine!

The French boules were first class and Ecky liked their shiny surface.

After the game we sat and enjoyed another drink.

Ecky did some drawing and sums in her new French exercise book, using her lovely French pen. She bought the pen in St Omer where she insisted that she needed a souvenir.

Whilst we enjoyed our drinks, Ecky read to us about the best ways to survive an earthquake.

Jenny is sifting through the many books in the house that were my Dad's and her parents. Most of them are not needed by her and so a second hand book dealer was called in to help. Ashley now has a box full to sell on at some point. Most of them had little potential value and the condition was rather poor and so they went to the paper recycling point.

Bill boldly climbed the old apple tree to rescue the frisbee which I had manged to lob into the top branches whilst I was playing with Ecky.

Jenny's garden is quite big and has recently been re-designed. The size means that there can be impressive blocks of contrasting colours which look superb.
